Manchester Airport seeks to take advantage of BAA stike
14.08.10
Manchester Airport are in talks with airlines to ease the anticipated travel chaos should staff at BAA's six UK airports carry through their strike threat. The plans involve transferring flights from the affected airports to Manchester Airport, which could mean an extra 100,000 passengers passing through the hub each day.
It is feared that the strikes at Heathrow, Stansted, Southampton, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh airports could be called for the busy bank holiday weekend. Manchester has offered airlines the chance to move their flights ahead of an expected announcement of strike dates early next week.
