Manchester Airport passengers up 5%
10.08.11
Passengers at Manchester Airport increased for the fourth consecutive month in July, boosted by strong performances on scheduled flights, the MEN reports. Passengers using the airport increased by 5.17 percent to 2.1m, as scheduled international services saw a 12.5 percent increase, offsetting single-digit declines on charter, domestic and private services. The airport saw a total of 16,410 aircraft movements, up 3 percent from the same month in 2010. Passengers are now almost 11 percent ahead of 2010 for the financial year to date.
Andrew Harrison, managing director of Manchester Airport, said: ‘I’m pleased that we have been able to report continuing strong performance, which shows that people in the north west are still managing to enjoy their holidays. We continue to see positive growth on international scheduled routes while July saw big announcements from the likes of Etihad and Ryanair about current and future routes.'
