‘Naked’ scanner moves to Manchester Airport Terminal 1
09.06.10
A full-body scanner that produces a 'naked' image of travellers is being installed at Manchester Airport Terminal 1, the Evening News reports. The airport plans to move one of the controversial devices from Terminal 2 this week, in a bid to reduce security queues.
The X-ray machine allows security staff to see through passengers clothes to reveal hidden weapons and explosives. A spokesman for the airport said that one of their three £80,000 Rapiscan scanners was being relocated to terminal one because of positive feedback from travellers and security staff.
