A light aircraft made an emergency landing at Manchester Airport yesterday after it suffered technical problems.
The pilot of the Piper 34, which was flying to the airport from Blackpool, reported problems with the left-hand main undercarriage on final approach. An emergency landing was carried out on Runway Two shortly after 16:00, and the runway was closed for over an hour.
The pilot and two passengers on board suffered minor injuries and had to be cut from the wreckage by firefighters. The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been informed.
A spokeswoman for Manchester Airport said: ‘The pilot and two passengers received medical treatment but were not seriously injured. They did not need to be taken to hospital.'
