Passengers up 5% at Luton Airport

More than 145,000 passengers jetted off from Luton Airport at the end of July. The hub saw a passenger increase of five percent compared to 2007 at the start of the peak summer period.
Families making the most of the school holidays and sun destinations were the most popular. City breaks also feature highly on travel lists, with passengers taking advantage of budget flights from Luton to Barcelona, Paris, Prague and Rome. The summer exodus of Eastern European workers back home for the summer is also in full swing.
