21.07.10
Monarch is gearing up for its busiest summer get away ever, with 300,000 passengers set to jet off to warmer climes at the beginning of the school holidays - and 55,000 of these travelling from its home base at Luton Airport.
Between tomorrow (July 22) and August 8, the British public will be travelling with the holiday airline to some of the top holiday destinations throughout Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Turkey and Gibraltar in search of reliable sunshine hotspots.
The Canary Islands of Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife, are 'hugely popular this summer' with a 40 percent increase in bookings compared to the same period last year. Gibraltar is also proving to be the destination of choice with a 22 percent increase in bookings compared to summer 2009, as well as Larnaca in Cyprus where bookings have increased by 11 percent.
Monarch's new routes to Turkey are also going to be busy this summer, with 70,000 people heading to the hotspots of Antalya, Bodrum and Dalaman.
