easyJet swaps 25 A319 orders for A320s
18.08.08
easyJet converted some of its outstanding A319 orders to A320s, switching 25 over to the larger variant, according to Airbus's latest July sales figures, flightglobal reports.
The UK budget airline, which until now has only ordered the A319 from Airbus and had been switching its fleet exclusively to the plane, outlined plans earlier this year to switch to the A320. The move has now been confirmed by Airbus, with easyJet's backlog of 110 A320 family aircraft comprising 85 A319s and 25 A320s, plus options on a further 88.
When easyJet acquired GB Airways earlier this year, it acquired nine A320s and six A321s, but these are being disposed of due to their non-standard configuration (they have business and economy class seats rather than a one class cabin), flightglobal reports.
