Former director of collapsed Eirjet new boss of Aer Arann

The former managing director of collapsed Irish airline Eirjet has been named as the next chief executive of Aer Arann, the Irish Independent reports. The regional airline announced Paul Schutz would take the role from January 1, replacing outgoing chief executive Garry Cullen, who will remain with the airline as a non executive director.
A management accountant by trade, Mr Schutz is best known for his stewardship of ill-fated charter airline Eirjet, which ceased trading in 2006. He also notably had his start in aviation at Ryanair in 1990, which could enliven the ongoing war of words between Aer Arann and Europe's biggest budget airline. He has been chief finance officer with Aer Arann since 2006.
Mr Schutz told the newspaper: ‘There is no doubt that these are challenging times for the airline industry globally but I believe we have both the right fleet and route network to allow us to face those challenges.'
