easyJet passengers up 7.9%

Despite the impact of the ash cloud, easyJet still flew 7.9% more people in May than a year ago. A total of 4.25 million people took a flight with the airline in May, up from 3.95 million last year. Its average load factor was 85.8%, up 2.3 percentage points on May 2009.
easyJet said that its passenger statistics for the month were impacted by a number of cancellations as a result of the volcanic ash clouds, with round 1,600 flights cancelled and approximately 215,000 passengers affected.
In the year to the end of May the airline carried 47.3 million, up 6.2% on the previous year, with an average load factor up 1.5 percentage points to 86.7%.
