Johnson backs London City Airport expansion
11.09.08
London Mayor Boris Johnson appears to have approved plans for the expansion of London City Airport, planning daily reports. He told London Assembly members in a question time session yesterday that the proposals were ‘green lighted’ earlier this week.
The Mayor reversed his opposition to an increased number of flights at the airport last month, but asked Newham Council to put back its consideration of the plans. He requested the delay so that a Department for Transport report could be prepared on the impact to the Thames Gateway Bridge proposals, but now seems happy to allow the Docklands airport to expand.
