SkyWork put larger planes on new London City – Bern route
07.04.11
Just a week after SkyWork Airlines of Switzerland introduced daily flights between London City Airport and its home base of Bern, it has introduced a larger aircraft on the service. The route was initially operated using 31-seat Dornier 328 aircraft, but effective 4 April, the 70-seat Bombardier Q400 quiet turboprop is now the mainstay aircraft on the route.
A spokesman for the airline said it is delighted with the reaction to the latest addition to its route network, which is the only direct flight between London City and Switzerland’s capital. He said: ‘Forward bookings are very strong, especially for Easter and we have been extremely pleased with how the market has responded so positively to the service.’ He noted that the split of traffic is showing to be 60% leisure, 40% business.
From 5 September SkyWork will be offering 11 flights a week on the route, allowing day returns Monday to Friday, tailored to the needs of both business and leisure travellers. Tickets are available to book at www.flyskywork.com with lead in web fares start at 79 CHF (£52 pounds) each way.
