Bank Holiday chaos at Liverpool Airport
26.04.11
Thousands of passengers flying in to Liverpool Airport suffered 'travel chaos' in the Bank Holiday rush, the Daily Post reports. Passengers were trapped on the concrete outside the arrivals lounge or forced to wait in overheated corridors yesterday for up to two hours.
Disgruntled passengers told the newspaper how they got off their planes only to be stood waiting to simply go through immigration for up to two hours, before leaving the airport. Many claimed that no-one had bothered to explain the delay.
Airport bosses said the queues had simply been the result of a busy Bank Holiday weekend. A spokesman insisted the immigration department had been staffed as usual. The airport was expected to handle 190,000 passengers from Good Friday to the early May Bank Holiday.
