19.01.07
An easyJet plane travelling from Belfast to Stansted made an emergency landing in Liverpool Airport yesterday. The plane landed safely at 11:40 and was inspected by the airline's safety experts.
Air traffic controllers at Liverpool Airport received a call from the pilot warning he was low on fuel, the airport said. He then declared a full emergency which led to 999 services standing by on the tarma. However, an easyJet spokesman said the diversion was due to high winds en route to London and that there was no shortage of fuel.
easyJet arranged for coaches to take passengers on to Stansted.
