Liverpool Airport has easyJet’s busiest route

Liverpool Airport has the busiest route in easyJet’s entire 437-route network, the Post reports. Its Belfast link operates 12 times each way per day. It has just celebrated its 10th anniversary since launching in 1999, with more than 4.8 million passengers taking the low cost airline’s route, which carries more passengers than any other from the airport.
Carly Brear, easyJet’s UK commercial manager, told the newspaper: ‘The Liverpool to Belfast flight is one of the shortest but is the busiest of all easyJet’s routes. It was predominantly used by business travellers when it was launched a decade ago, however, Belfast has established itself as a popular tourist destination in recent years and we are seeing increasing numbers of leisure travellers. There is also a large Northern Irish community in the North West which regularly uses the route to travel back and forth to visit friends and relatives.’
Airport spokesman Robin Tudor said: ‘The success of this route has been phenomenal and soon after starting it became the airport’s most popular service. It serves so many markets, including business, football traffic for all four Premier League teams in both Liverpool and Manchester, the growing student population in the north west and of course for visiting friends and families.’
