Jet2 emergency at Leeds Bradford Airport
24.09.10
A plane was forced to circle over Leeds when its wing flaps failed to release, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports. The Jet2 aircraft was forced to fly above Leeds Bradford Airport for at least 15 minutes yesterday.
The pilots eventually got the flaps, which help the plane to brake, to activate and it landed safely shortly before 15:30, with fire crews from Rawdon station on site in case the aircraft overshot the runway.
A Jet2 spokeswoman said: ‘The captain was alerted by a systems monitoring indication and Leeds Bradford Airport was advised prior to landing. As is standard policy in these situations, emergency services were present as a precaution and the aircraft landed safely, without incident.’
