New hotel opens at Kent Airport
25.01.08
A new 105-bedroom hotel opened this week near Kent International Airport. The flagship Holiday Inn Express hotel has been built on the site of the once-derelict, Prospect Inn pub at a cost of £9 million.
The hotel, which is in Minster just a stone’s throw from the airport across the A253, was built behind the 1937 pub by developer Geminex. The original art deco bar has been restored, renovated and revamped, and become the new hotel's foyer,
A spokesman for the company said: 'We believe the airport, in time, will get a low-cost carrier. But there is enough business in the area, with the business parks and Pfizer to carry 105 bedrooms.'
There are plans for a conference and banqueting centre on its remaining two acres of the site.
