21.12.06

Two men from south London have been charged with theft after a jet engine worth £60,000 went missing from an industrial estate in Kent. The men, aged 47 and 36, were arrested when a lorry was stopped by police near Kent International Airport at Manston, and found to have an engine on board.

An alarm was trigged at 06:00 on Wednesday at the African International Airways site, on the Manston Road Industrial Estate. The 36-year-old is charged with two more jet engine thefts on 5 December. Two 18-year-old men also arrested on Wednesday were both released without charge.
