Freight up 80% at Kent Airport
19.05.07
Kent Airport handled 2,205 tonnes of freight in April, nearly 80% up on the previous year. However, this is 18% down on the March figure, reflecting lower fresh produce volumes from Africa as the UK and Europe growing season accelerates.
The level of freight growth at the is generally very strong given IATA's recently reported global freight growth of 2.3% for the year ending March 2007. One particularly notable shipment of freight arrived during the month when two Atlas Air Boeing 747s flew in carrying racing cars and other equipment, belonging to A1GP.
