Kent airport flying school resumes flights
16.08.05
A flying school at Kent Airport has bought its own insurance in order to resume activity. It was forced to stop flying when the airport went into administration and ceased cover.
Kent airport at Manston shut down when its operator PlaneStation - also parent company of budget airline EUjet - collapsed in July after its bank, HBOS, withdrew its support. Two weeks ago, TG Aviation, a Kent based flying school, grounded its planes after the insurance cover for the airport was cancelled by the administrators.
But yesterday the flying school said that it had resumed flights from the airfield, after taking out its own insurance cover.
Regarding the future of the airport, there is no news. The deadline for bids to take over the airport was on 10 August, but administrators have declined to comment on any bids until they have a more definite outcome.
