Public meeting on Kent Airport flights plans tonight
05.12.07
The public are being given the chance to have their say about issues linked to Kent International Airport (Manston) at a meeting tonight. Noise from training flights, air quality monitoring, water pollution and the 'vexed question' about its environmental impact will be among the topics discussed.
Residents have been invited to the meeting - the first since the airport was taken over by Infratil in 2005 - by the airport's consultative committee. Spokesman Paul Twyman said the planning agreement which controls flight activity and its impact was 'inherited by Infratil' after being signed some time ago.
He said: 'It wasn't very satisfactory when it was first devised, it's even less satisfactory now and needs amendment. And there's also a feeling in some quarters that the agreement ought to be better enforced by Thanet District Council.'
The public meeting takes place on Wednesday evening. We have no details on where or at what time, but have contacted the committee for further information, which we will endeavor to post today.
