Jersey Airport to close for emergency exercise
12.11.11
Jersey Airport will close early today for an emergency exercise. The airport runway and terminal buildings will close at 19:00 for the exercise to see how well it can respond to a serious emergency.
Airport chief fire officer Andy Munns said the airport was obliged to take part in an exercise of this kind every two years. He said: 'This exercise will help to maintain and where necessary, improve upon the procedures we currently have in place. It will enable all those involved to be better equipped to manage and react in the event of a real-life incident of this scale.'
Volunteers will act as casualties in the event, and airport authorities, ambulance staff, firefighters and officers from the States and honorary police will take part in the exercise.
