Small drop in IOM passengers

Isle of Man Airport passenger numbers during 2008 were just 0.16 percent lower than 2007, despite the collapse of EuroManx and the weakening economy. A total of 736,200 passengers passed through the airport's doors last year.
The main reason for the small decline was a drop in passengers on flights to London City Airport. Less than 30,000 flew on the route in 2008 following the collapse of Euromanx - down from 2007's figure of 66,000. Transport Minister David Anderson said the performance represented a ‘remarkable achievement’ considering the difficulties the airport has faced.
