Humberside Airport hotel planned
20.03.10
A planning application to build a new 100-bedroom hotel at Humberside Airport, which could lead to 30 jobs, has been submitted. If the application is successful, the building would stand for a temporary period of five years in order to gauge whether a need exists for a permanent airport hotel.
The need for a hotel has arisen from the number of workers commuting to non-residential oil rigs from Humberside. In addition to the bedrooms, the hotel would also offer a restaurant, recreation room and conference facilities, with new jobs to cover the full range of positions.
Humberside Airport director, Tony Lavan, said: ‘This exciting development is a major boost for the airport. We have a diverse business offering, which not only consists of commercial scheduled, international scheduled and package holiday flights, but also a successful offshore business.'
If permission for the hotel is granted by North Lincolnshire Council, the building would be sited on an unused area of land next to the business park at the airport, adjacent to the main entrance from the A18.Add to: del.icio.us | Digg it | Newsvine | NowPublic | Reddit
