31.05.11
British Airways invest £5.5 billion to buy new aircraft as part of its fleet expansion, an airline official told the Khaleej Times. The airline will add more Boeing 777-300 ERs, 12 Airbus A380s and 24 Boeing 787s to its existing fleet, Paolo De Renzis, Regional Commercial Manager Middle East for BA said.
The airline, which completed a multi-billion merger with Iberia to form International Airline Group earlier this year, said it also would be investing more in introducing new cabins and new in-flight entertainment systems on existing planes. Together, BA and Iberia fly to over 200 destinations on more than 400 aircraft. They have joint revenues of more than €14 billion and last year carried 55 million passengers.
