BA cabin crew back further negotiations
27.02.10
Cabin crew in dispute with British Airways have backed more talks and did not announce a date for strike action at a mass meeting this week. Originally they had been expected to name strike dates, but instead they called on the Unite union to try and negotiate a settlement with the airline over crew cuts and changes to working arrangements. There are even some reports of division within the union and between staff - who want negotiation - and senior union officials who are said to want a strike.
Unite members meeting on Thursday unanimously backed their negotiating team's attempts to resolve the current dispute with the company, the union said. The meeting backed the union negotiating team to continue their work to reach a settlement in the row, and to propose strike dates for authorisation if it proves impossible to reach such an agreement through negotiation.
