17.02.11
A Metropolitan Police officer has been arrested on suspicion of playing a key role in a shoplifting ring at Heathrow Airport, the BBC reports. The move follows an investigation into the theft of high-value goods from stores at Terminal Five.
The constable, who works in the aviation security unit, was arrested at his home in Reading, Berkshire. A man, 43, and woman, in her 30s, were also arrested at their home in nearby Bracknell, on suspicion of theft. All three are being questioned at a south London police station.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed and a decision on whether the officer should be suspended from duty will be made ‘in due course’.
