Flybe urge BAA breakup
16.05.08
Flybe is urging ministers to force the break-up of UK airports operator BAA. The budget airline has written to Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly voicing ‘disgust’ at BAA's sky-high profits. Owner Ferrovial says BAA is forecast to double profits to £1billion this year and double them again by 2012.
Flybe director Mike Rutter said: ‘While airlines are wrestling with the challenge of fuel prices, Ferrovial seems intent only on milking passengers and airlines. We're not against companies making a profit but a projected rise in earnings over 4 years of 90% is frankly obscene.’
