ABTN has published a picture of the first Boeing 757-200 to be launched by British Airways’ OpenSkies subsidiary. The plane is ready for takeoff, and the airline’s new livery includes the classic BA tail fin.It also has red-painted ‘winglets’ that the airlines says will increase fuel efficiency by up to 5% - a large saving at this period of record oil prices.
As reported last week, the three-class service will take off with a route between Paris Orly Airport and New York's JFK on June 19. The planes have been fitted with 82 seats: 24 6ft (1.83m) lie-flat seats in Business Class, which is being called ‘Biz’; 28 in Premium Economy, called ‘Prem+’, with 52’ seat pitch (the most for this class in any airline); and 30 in Economy.
Personal entertainment units will be available for all seats with more than 50hrs of programmes available, while the food menu will be more of an ‘a la carte’ style twinned with an ‘extensive’ wine list according to statements on the website.
The aircraft interior has been refurbished, with new carpets, decor and overhead luggage lockers. OpenSkies managing director Dale Moss told abtn: ‘We want to deliver an unforgettable premium flying experience and an atmosphere focused on personalisation and comfort.’
