BAA establishes snow Heathrow group
12.04.11
BAA, which last month said it would invest £50 million in better winter preparation and work closer with airlines and aviation bodies after a report critical of its response to the snow-induced chaos at Heathrow last year, has secured agreement from the chief executives of Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, bmi, UK air traffic control company NATS and the Civil Aviation Authority to establish a Heathrow partnership that meets regularly to discuss operational issues.
The group met last Wednesday and discussed how airlines, operators, immigration and police could better work together, perhaps in a single building at Heathrow, to make ‘common decisions rather than sequential ones’ to improve Heathrow's response to crises such as snow disruption.
