Heathrow Airport was named best in the world for duty-free shopping in the 2011 World Airport Awards. The airport retained the best airport for duty-free shopping accolade it also picked up last year in the Skytrax Survey, which is based on the results of 11.38m questionnaires completed by over 100 different nationalities of airline passenger covering more than 240 airlines worldwide.
A Skytrax spokesman said: ‘The last 12 months saw continued improvement in the selection and quality of Heathrow shopping facilities, which deliver one of the most extensive ranges of world class brands in the airport retail arena. Competing not only in terms of choice, the Heathrow shopping experience also performs well on a price competitive basis against other major airports.’
