Man arrested after bomb scare at Heathrow T5

A man, reported to be English and in his 30s, has been arrested after walking into Heathrow Terminal 5 and threatening to blow it up today. The departures area of the terminal was closed temporarily when the man caused a stand-off with armed police.
Hundreds of travellers were ushered out of the terminal at around 12:50, but the terminal was re-opened around 90 minutes later after the man was taken into custody. No new passengers were allowed to enter the building, but planes took off and landed as normal throughout the incident.
A spokesman for Heathrow said: ‘A police incident caused the partial evacuation of Terminal 5.’
