Virgin cabin crew ‘stole passengers £3000 upgrade fee’
07.06.11
Virgin Atlantic cabin crew have been caught stealing the £3000 cash a passenger paid to be upgraded, the Sun reports. Seven flight attendants are reported to have kept the money the man paid to be moved to first class.
The passenger had to use cash as credit card payments were not allowed on the flight from Lagos, Nigeria, to Heathrow because of the airline's anti-fraud policy. However instead of handing the money in, the crew are alleged to have pocketed it. The incident came to light when the man tried to claim loyalty points and the airline had no record of the payment.
The crew involved have been arrested and detectives are trying to find out if any other passengers were affected. Virgin Atlantic said it is investigating the incident, adding: ‘We are currently going through a disciplinary process and appropriate action will be taken.’
