IAG passenger traffic up 2.1%

British Airways and Iberia parent IAG reported a 2.1 percent rise in passenger traffic in November, measured in revenue passenger kilometres, boosted by 4.6 percent growth in premium traffic. Its passenger load factor was down 0.3 percentage points at 75.3 percent.
Traffic at Iberia fell 4.3 percent in November, whereas at BA traffic rose 5.1 percent. IAG said its first and business-class travel -- the most profitable part of its passenger business - across the group rose 4.6 percent, while non-premium traffic was up 1.6 percent. Capacity (available seat kilometres) grew by 2.4 percent.
Domestic traffic in the UK and Spain fell 10.3 percent last month. In contrast traffic over the North Atlantic traffic leaped 14 percent. The load factor on these routes rose 2.2 percentage points to 77.4 percent in November.
