BA passenger traffic up 1.1%

British Airways February passenger traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres, rose by 1.1 percent on February 2009. Its passenger capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres, was down 1.9 percent. These two measures combined resulted in a passenger load factor increase of 2.2 percentage points compared to last year, to 74.2 percent.
The traffic figures comprised a 5.0 percent increase in important premium - business and first class passenger - traffic and a 0.3 percent increase in non-premium traffic. However, BA reports that last year's February traffic data was affected by significant weather disruption in the first week of the month.
Cargo, measured in Cargo Tonne Kilometres, rose by 9.2 percent.
