BA aim to sign Iberia merger by end of Q1
04.03.10
British Airways aims to finally sign its merger agreement with Spanish airline Iberia by the end of this month, and said a possible strike by its cabin crew had not impacted forward bookings, Reuters reports.
BA's group treasurer George Stinnes advised reporters on a conference call: 'We're aiming to sign the merger agreement with Iberia by the end of the first quarter of 2010, that is the plan.' On the strike he added: 'It (the potential strike) has made no real difference to March bookings ... bookings for March are strong and show a steady improvement year-on-year.'
Reports over the weekend had suggested that BA sales were down by as much as a third since the strike vote was announced, with business passengers in particular switching to other airlines.
