Glasgow Airport supports local community groups
31.03.11
Glasgow Airport's community trust has given over £50,000 in total to a number of local projects. The groups received the grants from the travel hub's Flightpath Fund, and independently administered fund that is responsible for allocating Glasgow Airport’s community funding to local charities, community groups and the voluntary sector.
Funds are awarded to projects focused on education, environment, sport and community
regeneration. Glasgow Airport Managing Director, Amanda McMillan, said: ‘As a local employer, we are continuously looking at ways in which we can support the communities we serve. We would be delighted to hear from other local charities and community groups working in the field of sport, environment or economic regeneration, who would like to apply to our Flightpath Fund.’
Projects being funded with the money include a plan to renovate a playground, buy computers for community groups, buy a climbing frame and teach rugby to local school children. The funds will go to groups including Glasgow Hawks Sports Trust, Barsail Primary School Parent Council and Paisley South Vision. The largest grant, for £17,000, was given to the West Regional Scout Council.
