Seaplane emergency landing at Glasgow Airport

25.08.08

A seaplane was forced into an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport after part of it broke off and landed amid houses, the Sunday Mail reports. Luckily no one was hurt when one of the Cessna 208's rudders fell into a garden after taking off from the Clyde.

The aircraft is one of two seaplanes flying between Glasgow, Oban and Tobermory on Mull. It was flying from Glasgow Science Centre near the city centre to Loch Lomond but diverted to Glasgow Airport.

Aviation expert Jim Ferguson told the newspaper: ‘The rudder could easily have caused death or serious injury if it had hit a person or a car.’ Loch Lomond Seaplanes said: ‘It did not affect the safety and handling of the aircraft.’
