New ‘planeshop’ at Glasgow Airport
21.08.10
Glasgow Airport has achieved a world first in shopping, the Evening Times reports. It is to be the launch pad of a new retail concept which, if successful, could trigger a new global shopping chain. Planeshop is taking off in Glasgow’s former international departure lounge in the next few days and will employ five staff.
Planeshop is a new, permanent store which will exclusively showcase one brand, before replacing it with another several weeks later. The shop will take-off by showcasing goods produced by Californian sports company K-Swiss, best known for its range of tennis, running and training footwear.
The company behind planeshop is Los Angeles-based Vacant which introduced the world to ‘popup retailing’ – shops opening for a short time before closing. A spokesman told the newspaper: ‘Our new innovative retail concept will provide passengers with a new experience every time they visit planeshop.’
