Glasgow Airport skyhub to open next month
07.09.08
Glasgow Airport's new terminal extension - the Skyhub - is set to open next month and promises improve passenger experience at the airport. The £31 million project is the largest single investment at the airport since the 1990s and is part of a 10 year development plan costing £200 million.
BAA Glasgow will take over the new terminal extension in less that two weeks - on September 19th - from contractors Balfour Beatty and will start fitting out the building. The Skyhub will open on a phased basis, with the first section - the ground floor domestic arrivals hall, shops, bars and restaurants - seeing its first passengers on October 21st. Then on October 28th a new security search area will open on the first floor, replacing the three existing security areas, with all departing passengers routed through this single area from that date.
