Dutch register ‘definite interest’ in Glasgow Airport
06.10.08
Schipol Group, the state-owned Dutch company that runs Amsterdam's international airport, said it has a ‘definite interest’ in buying Glasgow Airport from current owners BAA. It is likely to want to use the airport as a feeder for international flights from its Schipol hub.
BAA has been told by the competition authorities that it is likely to be forced to sell either Glasgow or Edinburgh airport. Although BAA is campaigning to keep both, should it be forced to sell, Glasgow is seen as the most likely to be sold, with press speculation valuing it at between £500m and £700m.
