Flybe pilots accept pay deal
06.08.11
Flybe has reached a three-year pay deal with its pilots following 18 months of negotiations, which at one stage looked likely to result in industrial action. Pilots' union BALPA said 78% of its members had voted in favour of a new pay and scheduling deal, based on a turnout of 84% members.
The agreement includes a three year pay deal from April 2010 to March 31, 2013, and a five year scheduling agreement covering the period until March 2016. Details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Flybe pilot and Company Council Chairman Mark Firth said: ‘We are extremely happy with the result of the pay and scheduling ballot. After a protracted period of negotiations, and with support from BALPA, we are pleased that our members have accepted what we feel is the great deal in the current marketplace.’
A BALPA spokesman added: ‘This is a significant deal, both in terms of the quantum and in terms of the relationship going forward. It heralds a new era in industrial relations with the company.’
