Passenger denies Glasgow Airport weapon charge

An airline passenger allegedly caught in possession of a prohibited weapon at Glasgow Airport will stand trial after denying the charge, the Evening Times reports.
Paisley Sheriff Court was told Brian Gordon, of Elden Street, Greenock, was in possession of a friction-lock truncheon when he was searched at the airport September 9. The 20-year-old is charged with importing the prohibited item on in contravention of the Customs And Excise Management Act.
A defence agent confirmed he would be denying the charge. Sheriff Desmond Leslie fixed a trial date for December 18, with a diet set for November 27 for prosecution and defence sides to confirm the case is fully prepared for evidence to be led.
