Schiphol ‘interested in Glasgow Airport’
01.09.08
Holland's Schiphol Airport Group has a ‘definite interest’ in buying Glasgow Airport if the competition authority forces it’s sale, the Herald newspaper reports.
Last month the UK competition watchdog said BAA’s ownership of airports in the central belt of Scotland was bad for customers, airlines and passengers. It recommended that BAA be forced to sell either Edinburgh or Glasgow, with most analysts suggesting Glasgow as the most likely.
A final ruling on the potential sell-off is due before the end of next March. BAA could then appeal, which could delay the sale by a year or more. The newspaper says that Schiphol - a state owned group - would also look at Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports if they are sold.
