29.08.08
Baggage handlers and check-in workers at Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester airports have called off strikes as they accepted a revised pay offer from Grupo Ferrovial SA's Swissport International AG unit. The employees canceled the strikes planned for today at Gatwick and Stansted and at Manchester Airport for September 1, the Unite union said today in an e-mailed statement.
The union had suspended the strikes on August 21, including walkouts scheduled for August 25 and 27, while its members considered the pay proposal. The baggage handlers and check-in workers voted to accept a 4 percent raise for 2008 and 2009, the union said.
