Gatwick flight targeted with laser

A green laser was shone at an aircraft for several miles as it flew over Oxfordshire on its way to Gatwick Airport earlier this week. The police were alerted to the incident by air traffic controllers as the plane was targeted on Tuesday evening.
A police spokesman said the incident is being treated ‘extremely seriously’ and urged any witnesses to come forward. He added: ‘Shining lasers at an aircraft is potentially very dangerous - they are not toys. We take reports like this extremely seriously and will do all we can to find who is responsible.’
