20.08.11
A woman whose sister was killed in a crash at a Gatwick Airport car park is suing her sister’s boyfriend and another driver for damages of more than £300,000, the Chelmsford News reports.
Boyfriend Christopher Solomon and motorist Geoffrey Bratt were both convicted of causing the death of Joanna Jones by careless driving after the incident. Miss Jones died from her injuries when Mr Solomon’s Toyota Yaris, in which she was a passenger, turned right into the airport’s long stay car park and into the path of a Land Rover Discovery driven by Mr Bratt.
Both men were convicted of causing death by careless driving after a jury trial. Mr Bratt was given a nine-month jail sentence, suspended for two years. He was banned from driving for 3 years, required to take a retest, and ordered to pay costs of £2300. Mr Solomon was given 200 hours of community service, banned from driving for 3 years, and ordered to take a retest, with £500 costs.
Now her sister Natalie Jones is claiming damages from Mr Bratt and Mr Solomon for herself and her mother Suzanne Jones, 52, father John Jones, 53, and brother Christopher Jones, 22. The writ was issued by solicitors Bolt Burdon Kemp.To book gatwick airport hotels or gatwick airport parking at the lowest price, click on these links to two great gatwick parking and gatwick hotels price comparison pages.
