Christmas treats for passengers at Gatwick
17.12.11
More than one million passengers will use Gatwick over the Christmas and New Year period, with more than 60,000 on the airport’s busiest day - Friday December 23. To entertain the huge numbers passing through its terminals, Gatwick staff have installed a snow slide in the North terminal, and Samba musicians will also entertain passengers.
In addition, to launch the airport’s Christmas Charity Appeal, Gatwick called in the Mayor of Crawley Carol Eade, cast members from the Hawth’s Peter Pan, Father Christmas and Ifield Community College Choir to sing festive songs around the airport’s giant Christmas tree. It is hoped the appeal for St Catherine’s Hospice and Travel Care will beat last year’s total of £2,000.
Passengers who need to do some last minute Christmas shopping can look around Christmas Market Stalls within the terminal, and take advantage of the free wrapping service being provided. They can enjoy performances from over 20 local choirs and music groups during the Christmas period.
