Monarch flights pulled from Worldspan and Sabre
14.05.08
Monarch scheduled flights will be unavailable on Worldspan and Sabre from June 1, when the holiday airline withdraws from the UK Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP). The airline's flights will still be bookable via Amadeus and Galileo using an alternative Instant Pay system, Travel Weekly reports. However, agents will be required to enter the details of their own or their customer's credit card on the booking, otherwise bookings will not be confirmed.
The system will be in operation for sales via Amadeus and Galileo from Monday. An airline spokeswoman said: ‘We decided to withdraw flights from Worldspan and Sabre as we have noticed a significant fall in business and Amadeus and Galileo are strongest in our core market.’
Monarch will emulate easyJet by signing non-GDS suppliers to its Application Programming Interface (API), which aims to stop them screen-scraping online fares, the travel newspaper adds. The spokeswoman said: ‘We are looking to work with partners with whom we can connect on an API basis. Galileo and Amadeus have this functionality.’
