UK flights more punctual
11.09.08
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has released punctuality figures for UK flights in the second quarter of this year (April - June). They reveal that overall on-time rates improved on the previous year. 69 percent of flights operated on time – defined as no more than 15 minutes late – between April and June, a 1 percent improvement on 2007.
Gatwick , Luton and Stansted all managed to improve their scheduled punctuality performance, as did all of the regional gateways monitored by the CAA. Newcastle achieved an on-time performance rating of 79 percent, while at Edinburgh 75 percent of scheduled flights were on time.
The average delay recorded on scheduled flights across all ten of the monitored airports was 17 minutes, the same as in 2007. Of the 75 scheduled and charter destinations with the most passengers from UK airports, Cardiff had the highest on-time performance of 87 percent, while flights to Leeds-Bradford had the lowest average delay of 7 minutes.
