Transport minister says Gatwick – Jersey flights ‘crucial’

UK Transport Minister Teresa Villiers has 'given a huge boost' to a campaign to safeguard Jersey's vital Gatwick air links, the Jersey Evening Post reports. The Minister of State for Transport has written letters in which she expressed the view that ‘connectivity’ between the UK and the Channel Islands is 'crucial'.
Fears have been expressed about the future of the Jersey - Gatwick link, as a new price structure for aircraft landing charges at the London airport will significantly increase the costs of operating regular flights from regional airports using smaller aircraft.
